Two Ways to Fix Android Phone Keeps Disconnecting from Wi-Fi

Try basic fixes

  • Disable Interfering Apps: VPNs and Wi-Fi-first apps can sometimes interfere with your cellular network. Therefore, it is best to disable them. Also, if you have Antivirus apps installed on your device, you should disable them.
  • Check the settings and range of your router: You might want to make sure that your phone is not blocked from accessing the network. Because if that is the case, that could be the main reason why your device is unable to stay on the network. It is also recommended to stay within a good Wi-Fi range to ensure that your phone is establishing a strong connection with the router.
  • Update your router firmware : If you are sure that your phone won’t stay connected to Wi-Fi because of an issue with the router and not the phone itself, then upgrading the firmware can help resolve the issue.

Fix 1: Forget and reconnect to the network

Sometimes, simply restarting a Wi-Fi network connection that keeps disconnecting can help resolve the issue. Here are the steps for the same.

Step 1: Open your phone’s Settings app and navigate to Network & Internet > Internet .

Step 2: Click the gear icon next to the connected network and select Forget .

Now, reconnect to the Wi-Fi network you just disconnected from and check if the problem is resolved.

Fix 2: Reset Network Settings

Resetting the network settings of your Android smartphone can also help resolve random Wi-Fi disconnect issues. A network reset works by refreshing your phone’s Wi-Fi settings, cellular network settings, Bluetooth settings, and VPN configuration. This can help resolve network and connection issues on your device. Follow the steps below to reset your phone’s network settings.

NOTE : Resetting network settings will delete all saved (Wi-Fi and cellular) networks, passwords, and paired Bluetooth devices.

Step 1: Open your phone’s Settings app and head to System >> Reset option .

Step 2: Tap Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth and follow the on-screen prompts to complete resetting your network settings.
